To Renovate or To Wait? That is the Question.

Planning a time to start home renovations can be very stressful. Planning can be made even harder if those renovations will take place in a room like the kitchen that is frequently used by all members of the family. So, how does one know when to start a major home update and when to wait? The answer is, there is no perfect time. However, there are a few simple key factors to look at that will help you gage when it will be the least disruptive to the family to help make the process easier on everyone.

-Determine what projects you want done on your wish list. Consider whether or not those projects can be broken up throughout the year instead of taking on everything at once.

-Determine how much time you are willing to dedicate to each renovation project.

– Always get a professional opinion on the amount of time your renovations will take.

-If there are children in the house, consider their school and activities schedules.

Sometimes if the renovations will only take a month or two, starting the project as soon as the kids go back to school might be the best option.

– Try not to have projects going around the holidays when friends and family come over more often or it’s too cold to go outside while the renovations are happening.
